How long does hardwood floor sanding and refinishing take?
Most sanding and refinishing projects take several days. The exact timeline depends on square footage, floor condition, repairs, stain selection, the number of finish coats and drying or curing time. Walking on the floor, returning furniture and replacing rugs can require different waiting periods. Confirm each milestone for the selected finish and arrange room access before work starts. We give a more realistic schedule once we see the floor and understand the scope.
Will there be a lot of dust during floor sanding?
There will be some dust, but modern dust-containment equipment makes the process much cleaner than traditional sanding. Our equipment captures most dust at the source while we work. No sanding process can honestly be called completely dust-free.
Can engineered hardwood floors be sanded and refinished?
Sometimes. Engineered hardwood can only be sanded and refinished when the real-wood wear layer is thick enough to do so safely. Some engineered products can be refinished, while others should not be fully sanded. Solid hardwood can usually be refinished more times, depending on how much usable wood remains above the tongue and groove.
